I was wandering around Ciudad Delgado one night when I came across a group of churchgoers gathering indoors. The older women would jump up and down with their eyes closed, reaching out blindly until they touched someone, who would then begin the same ritual themselves. My camera had failed, and I had to make a difficult decision: keep the roll of film already inside the camera, or risk losing it to photograph what was happening in front of me. With film, that's not a decision you take lightly. I decided to take the chance.
