The Middle Child, 2023

Photographed with an Olympus Mju II in Guatemala City, Guatemala, in 2023.

I hitchhiked from Antigua toward Guatemala City, stopping along the way to photograph whatever caught my attention. Travel between departments was heavily restricted, with protests taking place throughout the country and people required to stop and dance at checkpoints before being allowed through. I had no idea what was happening, but I knew I wanted to photograph it, and somewhere along the way I came across this scene.
